VIN Decoding Settings Window

 
To open the VIN decoding settings window go to the "Menu Explorer" and open  "Settings, Inventory Settings" and click on the "VIN Decoding Settings" option.
NOTE: If you don't have permissions you may not see the options. Contact your system administrator.

Click this button to close the window without saving any changes.

Click this button to save your changes and close the window.

Automatically Select Standard Equipment

When this check box is checked, all equipment that is standard will automatically be added to a decoded vehicle.

Prompt For Engines

When checked, if more than one engine is available, the system will prompt you to select the correct engine. When unchecked, if multiple engines are available, the system will not select any engine type and not prompt you.
Note: If only one engine is available, it will automatically selected.

When checked, if more than one transmission is available, the system will prompt you to select the correct transmission. When unchecked, if multiple transmissions are available, the system will not select any transmission and not prompt you.

Enter Default Mappings

6. Enter Default Mappings
Click this button to enter the default vehicle type mapping. The vehicle type field is used in licensing and title paperwork as well as in other documents. When a VIN is decoded the decoded vehicle type may not be the proper vehicle type description for your state or location. The default mappings are set to be the proper vehicle types for the majority of the states and locations.
Note: This will overwrite any existing mappings.

If you wish the system to automatically enter a fuel type for the decoded vehicle, select a fuel type from the list.
Note: You can change the fuel type in the vehicle information screen if need be.

Mapping Field

8. Mapping Field
The vehicle type field is used in licensing and title paperwork as well as in other documents. When a VIN is decoded the decoded vehicle type may not be the proper vehicle type description for your state or location.
Enter vehicle type mapping for vehicle types you wish to translate to say something else. For instance, to change MPV to TRUCK enter MPV|TRUCK. Note the | "pipe" between MPV and TRUCK.
If you need to enter more than one mapping separated with a semicolon ";" character like this, MVP|TRUCK;PASSENGER|CAR.
